Irons made by my father

Black Country Bugle - - YOUR LETTERS -

THE Dudley CWS electric iron featured Bugle 1365 would have been made at their factory in Hall Street Dudley; which was, I believe once the home of Bean cars and is currently Nuttall’s shop fitting company.

My dad, Reg Westwood worked there after he came home from the war and I remember him telling me that he worked on electric irons as well as cylinder vacuum cleaners and table fans.

I remember my mother using a CWS iron but it was replaced by a more modern steam iron. There was also a department that made metal buckets. When my father died a few years ago one of the things that was cleared out from his shed was a Dudley CWS table fan which still worked but was not up to modern spec.
