Christmas Adverts

- By Janet Oakey

We’ve all enjoyed the beautiful hot summer days Now Autumn is here – they’ve vanished in a haze. But what’s going on With all these television alerts? We’re being bombarded with Christmas adverts!

As lovely as they are, It’s way too early for festive mode And I really think they should be put on hold We keep seeing huge tables, full of gorgeous food But it’s still too soon to get into the mood.

Great sizzling turkeys fill our screen Piles of puddings and cakes, full of cream Flashing lights on the Christmas trees Hoards of toys, children choosing pressies.

Then we have the numerous sofa sales How boring We’re fed up already with adverts Which have us all yawning! Beginning of December would be better When Santa is preparing to pile his sleigh high To deliver lots of presents And bring children so much joy.

So, if the adverts get on your nerves, Just mute the noise And keep happy and cheerful Ready for your Christmas surprise!
