CONGRATULATIONS to Angela Gibson, the winner of the Tipton photo competition with her winter landscape at Sheepwash Local Nature Reserve.

Lots of people submitted entries over the summer and a shortlist of seven photos went on display in October for the public to vote for their favourite at the three Tipton libraries and on the Discover Sandwell website.

Angela said: “I have lived near Sheepwash since I was a child and enjoy watching the seasons change over there through the year, something I am now sharing with my young daughter.”

The Mayor of Sandwell Councillor Joy Edis and Tipton town chair Councillor Ann Jarvis presented Angela with a winner’s certificate and £25 ASDA voucher at the Tipton Christmas launch event at Tipton Library at the end of last month.

Councillor Jarvis said: “I would like to thank all the photographers who entered the competition and everyone who voted for their favourite online or at Tipton libraries. This has been a wonderful way to celebrate and showcase Tipton’s parks and green spaces and I would like to congratulate Angela on her winning entry.”

The Tipton Christmas launch event included a feast of entertainment in the library, including from Tipton Community Choir, Joe John Thomas, the ukulele man, and the Dancing Grannies. The event culminated with carols and the switching on of the Christmas lights outside in Owen Street.
