Tipton brace buries Bustleholme

- By JOHN CROSS

BUSTLEHOLME 0 TIPTON TOWN 2

A keenly contested game at Oldbury saw Tipton Town withstand a spirited fightback from the hosts to take all three points.

Tipton stormed into the lead on just 8 minutes when Teejay Davies was brought crashing to the floor, Scott Broadway smashing home his spotkick.

Davies again taunted the home club before being felled by Owen Sprigg, and the following free-kick created havoc in the home goal area, allowing the alert Scott Broadway to chip the ball to Luke Johnson, who calmly doubled the visitors’ tally.

Clearly revitalised after their interval team-talk Bustleholme pressed forward, Chris Brown forcing Tipton keeper Thomas to save splendidly.

On 61 minutes Bustleholme attacked in force, Wood driving narrowly over the bar as Tipton were forced backwards, skipper Sam Hesson marshalling his defence splendidly to nullify the home team threat.

Response

On 84 minutes a fine response by Bustleholme saw Wood outstrip the Tipton defence before crossing low into the penalty area, sub Rikki Danton agonisingly close to educing the arrears.

In the closing seconds it was Tipton on the charge for the final time and almost increasing their lead when full-back Connor Scott came so very close to netting after a final assault was hooked clear, but then immediately played right back into Bustleholme’s penalty area for the final time.
