Steps to memory lane
I have only just received my copy of Bugle 1347, June 20 – my sister-in-law saves them for me, for when I can get to Smethwick to see her.
I remember the steps very well. I used to climb on the wall on the other side of the steps to collect train numbers.
Coming up those steps there was a pub on the left, opposite the toll house, called the George and under the steps there was a public urinal. In the old days, I believe, there use to be a market there as well.
