I met Tommy while getting my hair cut

READING your article in the December 26 edition, number 1374 about Eve Boswell and Tommy Cooper reminded me of something that happened at that time.

I was at a company dinner/dance at the Station Hotel opposite the Hippodrome and I bumped into Eve Boswell in the hotel foyer. She was very vivacious and seemed quite petite. Next day I was having a ‘short back and sides’ in Baxter’s Gentlemen’s Hairdressers in Tower Street, Dudley, when in walked Tommy Cooper. He was interested in electric shavers, had a shave, then left without making a purchase.

He was a big man and a naturally funny man. Happy memories.
