Grab a bargain at church fund raiser

-

VOLUNTEERS raising funds to restore historic St John’s Church, Kates Hill, in Dudley, have filled the pews of the Grade II listed church with boxes of thousands of donated items all being sold at 10p each plus some £1 specials.

Deb Brownlee, chair of the St John’s Church Preservation Group, said: “St John’s fundraising sale rooms, in the Old St John’s School next door to the church, are open to the public on Mondays and Fridays, 12-4pm, but over time the amount of items builds up. This is our biggest ever 10p sell off, so we’re using the church, and we’ve nearly filled it! We think people will find some pretty good bargains. Every penny goes towards the restoration of the church.”

The 10p rummage and £1 specials sale will run every Friday in the church from 12-4pm until 13th December. Items for sale include DVDS and CDS, curios, brica-brac, books and toys.

The group has also offered other stallholders space on the Friday afternoons. Deb Brownlee said, “If any local people, perhaps with crafts or home made cakes, would like to come and take a stall space, we have a few spots left and we will be pleased to hear from them”.

Warm drinks are available in the church and there is a play area for children. The sanctuary area in church is also available for lighting of candles when the church is open.

The group can be contacted by email savestjohnschurch@hotmail.co.uk or by telephone 0752 218 4461, and is also very active on Facebook, Save St John’s Church, Kates Hill, Dudley.
