Tough time for Tipton as Droitwich bag triple
TIPTON TOWN 1 DROITWICH SPA 3
FOLLOWING their notable efforts in Herefordshire last weekend, Tipton faced a far more formidable outfit in Worcestershire’s Droitwich Spa, the visitors possessing panache aplenty.
Denied
Dugmore’s lunge only just able to turn the ball to safety. Droitwich, however, were clearly beginning to take control and, on 21 minutes earned the lead they had been threatening to take, Haydn Morris piercing the home defence following a dangerous low cross from the left.
Approaching the halfhour Tipton were put to the sword once more, Connor Collins smartly finishing off a cut and thrust break, simply all too good for the home defence to counter.
Bombarded
each a likely score, but each dramatically hooked clear.
Tipton were unlucky not to pull a goal back on 38 minutes, Andy Dicken’s effort only just beaten away.
In the second-half Tipton spurned a great chance of pulling a goal back, Ryan Williams driving over the visitors’ bar from a dozen yards, their defence having been split asunder.
Danny Bell’s fine foraging efforts saw him beat two defenders before he went close in the 57th minute.
This was now developing into a spirited reply by Tipton, the visitors undeterred until the home club punctured their over-confidence when Danny Bell netted from an acute angle in the 61st minute.
A heavy assault upon the Tipton goal on 65 minutes saw a miscued defensive header tee up Connor Collins to rattle the ball home.
Still striving to have some impact, Tipton refused to give up, Ryan Williams seeing his header at the far post turned over by Matt Oliver with just 15 minutes left.
Chances
Tipton were making some more than useful chances now as the clock wound down, Dan Bell next to bemoan his ill-luck on 86 minutes when thwarted by keeper Oliver.
Once again Oliver was responsible for singularly preserving Droitwich’s two-goal lead when he advanced from his penalty area to successfully break up a Tipton assault, a second goal for the hosts almost a reality. In time added-on home keeper Pratt made two astounding saves to ensure that the final score climbed no higher.
Trouble
Virtually all through this encounter, seven or eight yobs, clearly followers of Droitwich, kept up a barrage of filthy bawling and bawdy coarse language, clearly intent upon unsettling and discomposing all other spectators in their vicinity, several of whom were children, simply there to watch a football game and most surely not wishing to endure such filth.
Next Saturday Tipton visit Gornal Athletic in another Division One League fixture, kick-off 3pm.
