Looking down the barrel of a gun – inside the Webley works
TWO weeks ago we brought you some fascinating scenes from inside the world renowned Webley & Scott gun factory ... a famous Birmingham name which, we revealed, had actually been based in West Bromwich for much of its later existence, but retained its Birmingham address via a cheeky entrance just inside the Second City’s border.
We’ve plucked from the archive another photograph from inside that factory, which was opened in 1958 as an upgrade on their historic Weaman Street works in Birmingham. This one dates from March 20, 1974, and shows an experienced gun maker, name not given, peering down a gun barrel as he straightens it by eye.
