WORDSLEY’S Wednesday Seniors Group kicks off its next series of meetings early in September.

The new autumn sessions begin on Wednesday September 7 at 2pm, and organiser Mary Skidmore tells us:

“A wonderful programme entitled ‘Nostalgic Cinema’ will be shown at Wordsley Green Community Centre.

“A short introduction by John Colley will be followed by synopses of five films which span the genres of comedy, royalty, musicals, news reels and trailers.

“The varied programme covers the period from the 1930s to the 1960s, and features a wide array of screen stars including Roy Rogers, Betty Grable, Dirk Bogarde, and Bill Haley & the Comets.

“All are welcome to sample an intriguing afternoon. Entry fee is members £3, visitors £4, and that includes tea or coffee and biscuits.”

The Wednesday Seniors Group is open to anyone aged 50 or over.
