Were the Boonyeds splitting hairs?
I would like to comment about Bugle 1560, July 20, and the pictures showing Bill and Bren, collectively known as The Boonyeds.
I know it’s meant to be some sort of joke about Bren’s barber, but, with all due respect to everyone in that particular line of work, I prefer the reply from Bren to have been “Oh, ar, she knows all the short cuts” instead of “he”. Is this somewhat destroying the so-called joke or something else?
I’ve been reading the Bugle only since 1976, just four years after it first came out, and I’ve since been doing some muchneeded research into when it was the first time in the Black Country that women started cutting men’s hair. Has there yet been an article published in the Bugle about this particular subject?
