Prizes for blooming marvellous gardeners

KEEN gardeners in Wednesbury were recognised for their green-fingered creativity when the results of Wednesbury in Bloom were announced at the Wednesbury Summer Fete earlier this month.

£50 vouchers were presented by the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Richard Jones, at Wednesbury Town Hall to the winners of the following categories:

Best garden: Lesley Butterwort­h

Best planters: Vaughan Graham

Best hanging baskets: Kenneth Stocking

Best business: Oakley Gardens

£135 was raised for the Mayor’s charities, which are St John Ambulance, LGBT+ in Sandwell Community Group, and New Beginnings Baby Bundles.

Councillor Richard Jones, said: “I want to thank the excellent gardeners who took part in Wednesbury in Bloom. The judges were very impressed with the very high standards in all four categories.”
