Tom’s first taste of Molineux – a snatched point against Swindon
YOU know you are getting old when you write in to mark the thirtieth anniversary of your son’s first professional football match.
So it is no surprise that I am marking that milestone for Tom Corbett. He first saw a match at Molineux on 22 August 1992 when Wolves took on Glenn Hoddle’s Swindon Town.
Wolves twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw, through goals from Andy Mutch and Keith Downing. ‘Psycho’s’ equaliser came at the death and I attach copies of the tickets and programme, as well as a photograph of us both in the Family Enclosure that was then in the lower John Ireland stand, with its inexplicably red seats.
Why Tom, aged four and a half, is wearing a bobble hat in August is beyond me but maybe we had cooler summers then!
The photograph was taken by his beloved Taidie (his maternal grandfather and an Everton fan) who was presumably dragged along for a misdemeanour of some sort!
