TO DO LIST
Snap yellowing lower leaves from tomato plants to increase air circulation and reduce disease risk. Still feed but gradually reduce watering now much of the fruit is picked and nights are cooler.
Check on early varieties of Brussels sprouts, right, and leeks, plus autumn carrots, cauliflowers and calabrese. They should be ready to use from now onwards.
Reduce feeding and watering of tuberous begonias, as flowering finishes and the plants prepare for winter rest.
Move cold-tender conservatory plants and patio shrubs in as soon as the evenings turn cool – don’t wait for the first frost.
