Hats off to those that fight for better public transport
MANY thanks indeed for including my story of Snow Hill. I hope it has been of use and brought back many memories.
I have always admired those who fought for public transport, like John Holland and the Snow Hill Line Action Group, and in some ways the articles were a tribute to all who worked so hard.
Readers may not always know that quite a number of people featured in the articles tried their best against terrible odds to prevent closure. I am all for light railway transport such as the Metro but Snow Hill to Low Level and the connection to Stafford Road Junction should have been kept as a railway.
Ironically, when the Wolverhampton Station link is open on the Metro it will be the first time in history passengers can travel direct from Wolverhampton (former High Level) to Birmingham Snow Hill.
Thank God, we saved Moor Street and Snow Hill is open again.
