Grammar School boys were from ’30s
I’M writing with reference to the photograph which appeared in the September 21 edition of the Bugle under the heading ‘Grammar school lads on the ball’ on page 26.
It does not date from the 1950s but much earlier, from the 1930s.
My father, who was born in 1919, is pictured to the right of the goalkeeper – his name was Alfred Cartwright.
After playing at school he played for Woodside United when they won the area cup on the Aston Villa ground.
