When Sedgley was almost a rural village

- By GAVIN JONES gjones@blackcountrybugle.co.uk

OUR thanks to reader Jayne Dudley for these evocative old images.

They come from the collection of her father Howard Hampton, and take us back to Sedgley when it was almost rural.

Pictured at the top of the page is Howard’s father, Howard Hampton senior, who had a dairy herd at Turls Hill in Sedgley, near the old Prince of Wales pub, and started a milk round from there.

He is pictured with his horse and float in Brook Street.

On the left is a farm building, which Howard believes was at Cotwall

End, where Jack Kinsey used to farm.

Do get in touch if you can tell us anything more about old Sedgley – email us or call 01384 880531.
