Do you remember British Industries Fair in the 1940s?

READER Mrs Shelia Coles of Wombourne has written to us with the following request:

“I wonder if Bugle readers could help me find either photographs or information regarding the British Industries Fair held at Castle Bromwich?

“I am nearly 92 years of age and in the mid-1940s I worked for Ferro Enamels Ltd at Wombourne – no longer there now.

“They did an exhibition at the BIF for several years in the mid-40s. They used to make ashtrays for people, with their names on.

“While I was there the king and queen came by our stall and I think the late queen and Princess Margaret came by too.”

We have found in the Bugle archives a picture of the Duke of Edinburgh at the 1953 BIF, reprodcued here, but do any readers have any from the previous decade? Our contact details are on page 2 if you can help.
