‘We always go that extra mile’

Seeking advice at a pharmacy for minor illnesses could save you time

-

Ben Tuffour owns England’s oldest pharmacy, Reavley Chemist in Burford, Oxfordshire, which opened in 1734.

“I would always encourage people to seek advice at their pharmacy,” says Ben. “So many of the people who come here for medical advice already come to us for other things, so they are familiar with us and feel comfortable asking.

“Patients may also get referred to their pharmacy via their GP. They get a private one-to-one meeting with the pharmacist, and they don’t have to wait for an appointment.

“We’ll always go the extra mile to ensure we’re giving the right care – and in some rural areas pharmacies even provide a delivery service to housebound patients.

“If people get into the habit of coming to the pharmacy with minor illnesses, not only can it can save them time, but it could also mean that they get

treatment before the problem becomes more serious.

“We also have the knowledge to refer them on if necessary, and to the appropriate service – which again helps everyone. It’s about getting the right care at the right place.”
