Salute to the queen from Throne Crescent

- By GAVIN JONES gjones@blackcountrybugle.co.uk

2022 will be remembered for one thing above all else – it was the year we lost Queen Elizabeth II, our longestreigning monarch.

And this picture takes us back to 1953, the year of her coronation. It was taken in Rowley Regis, on Throne Crescent, outside number 12, and there are around fifty residents lined up to celebrate – mostly in their coats, despite it being June.

We don’t have all the names of those in the shot, but among them were Leondard Bricknal, Ira Hampton, Malcolm Ruddall, Sheila and Jimmy Gould, Graham Newiss, Adrian Church and John Winwood.

■ If you can name anyone else, please get in touch via the email address above, or write to us at the address on page 2.
