Mark headlines cycling festival
Adventurer will be at three-day biking celebration
The man who cycled the world, Bridge of Cally’s very own Mark Beaumont, will be headlining the Coupar Angus Cycling Festival later this year.
Now in its third year, the festival has grown into a three-day celebration of all things cycling.
As well as Mark Beaumont’s appearance, this year’s event, which takes place from July 1517, will also feature a stunt team, a BMX and skate jam, skills track and obstacle course, bike displays, exhibitions and stalls, a raffle, competitions, and the return of Big Cycle Sunday.
The festival gets under way on the Friday evening with a talk by adventure cyclist and television presenter Beaumont at the town’s Red House Hotel.
Mark will be chatting about his recent cycling endeavours in the first of many events over the weekend which organisers hope will inspire more people to get on their bikes.
On the Saturday, Larghan Park will be the venue for a huge, free, cycling-orientated event with something for everyone.
There will be kids’ races, a food market, a giant Airbag to jump into and practise bike skills and tricks, cycling skills courses and obstacles, a bike test zone to try adapted bicycles, electric bikes and many other bikes.
Back by popular demand after their appearance last year, Scotland’s cycling stunt team, the Clan, will be performing shows throughout the day.
There will also be a skate jam running throughout the day as well and lots of bike-related stalls and activities.
