Third annual Coupar Angus cycling event

-

Sunday sees the Big Sunday Cycle return, this time with three road rides of various lengths from 25 to 100km.

The rides all leave from and return to Larghan Park and will take in some of the quiet roads and fantastic scenery surrounding the town. Cycle hire is available.

There will also be an Enduro mountain bike race, starting and finishing in Coupar Angus, with five race stages on mountain bike trails in the surrounding area.

The festival is being organised by the town’s cycling development officer, Grant Murdoch.

He said: “The festival is here to inspire people locally and regionally to become engaged with cycling in Strathmore and beyond.

“It is designed to have something for everyone and to encourage them to get involved with cycling at any level.

“The festival aims to highlight to people the benefits of cycling and what we have available for them both in terms of bikes and support services available from the cycling hub here in Coupar Angus, while at the same time having fun.

“And this year the festival is bigger and better than ever before. We had around six or seven hundred people take part last year and are hoping for well over that this year.

“It promises to be a full-on fun weekend of events!”

Tickets for the Mark Beamount event are £12. Doors open 7pm.

The event in Larghan Park on Saturday, July 16, takes place from 10am until 4pm. Pitches are available.
