Blairgowrie singer’s joy as latest CD is released

- Clare Damodaran

Talented Blairgowrie singer Heather Tweddle has released a new CD.

The 10-track album, called Paper Roses, is being sent to radio stations and other outlets as Heather pursues her dream of singing.

This is a second release for Heather who previously released an EP of the same name last year.

Heather, who performs regularly at local gigs and events, explained the personal connection she has to the title track.

She said: “Paper Roses was one of my gran’s favourite songs.

“My grandparents, Jeanette and John Stewart – who were from Coupar Angus originally – gave me the determination to do what I want to do.

“My gran liked to carry a tune but no one in my family is really a singer – I don’t know where I get it from!

“She always said to do what makes you happy and I’m taking that on board now. The album will be dedicated to them both.”

Heather has managed to fit her recording work around her job as manager at Blairgowrie bakers Goodfellow and Steven.

She has been working with Irish singer Dominic Kirwan and producer Scott Newstead – who has worked with a lot of Irish artists such as Daniel O’Donnell – flying back and forth to London to recording studios there.

Heather continued: “I’ve known Scott all my life, and he said one night that I should record a CD with him.

“So I saved up the money and just went for it.

“The EP was all covers - songs by Patsy Kline and Irish country stars such as Lisa McEwan.

“The CD is a more mixed range of material. It is selling really well, I’ve already had to order more copies!”

Anyone who would like to buy a copy of the album, priced £10, should contact Heather on htweddle@hotmail.co.uk.

Heather is also performing at the Coupar Angus Country and Western Music Club’s 25th anniversary dance at the Red House Hotel on Friday this week, with Norman Borland.

Doors open at 7pm tickets cost £6 and will be available at the door. All welcome.
