Rattray pair book their place in Ayr

Wet weather put paid to the usual Friday night rinks competitio­n last week.

W Fairbairn, R Mackenzie, W Donaldson and skip I Robertson won Sunday’s Mackenzie-Petrie competitio­n.

They will go on to play Rattray’s Mackenzie-Petrie on August 28.

Saturday this week sees the club host its ladies invitation pairs competitio­n, which attracts teams from across Perthshire. Spectators are welcome.

The away friendly planned against Luncarty on Sunday this week has been cancelled as the hosts’ facilities have not been completed.

The weekly club lottery now stands at £350.

There were no winners last week. The numbers were 6, 7, 16 and 17.

Rattray

Scotland District 6 pairs final against Bankfoot on Friday last week.

The game was closely contested but the Rattray pair played the tighter game to win.

They now represent the district at the national finals in Ayr at the end of July, along with Catherine Kinnear – who won the senior singles – and Margaret Beedie, Sheila Brogan, Sheila Richardson and Cath Donaldson, who won the senior fours.

Rattray played an away friendly against Strathmore on Saturday, winning 82-57.

Scores, Rattray skips first, were: A McIntosh 20, J Whitehouse 11; G Whyte 15, S Ogilvie 21; G Campbell 23, J McCann 15; G Lawrence 24, J Robertson.

The bingo tea to be held at the clubhouse on Monday next week has been cancelled.

The next bingo tea is due to take place on September 26.

A club spokespers­on said: “Please accept our apologies for any confusion over the dates.”
