Loon Braes fun day is looming
Come along to Picnic in the Park
East Perthshire residents are reminded that Rattray’s popular Picnic in the Park takes place this Saturday.
This year’s fun day, organised by volunteers from the Loon Braes Parknership, is on Saturday, August 13, from noon until 3pm in Davie Park.
There will be lots of entertainment for all the family, including a barbecue, bouncy castles, various stalls, and archery from Outdoor Explore.
A range of local groups and organisations will have information stalls at the event, including the Strathmore Centre for Youth Development (SCYD) and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Betty Marshall and volunteers from Strathmore Day Opportunities will be running the barbecue, selling burgers and hot dogs to raise funds for the service.
There will also be a football tournament at Davie Park, organised by the youth section of Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Football Club.
Katrina Whyte from the Loon Braes Parknership is one of the organisers of the fun day.
She told the Blairie: “Thanks to everyone who has been involved in putting the picnic together.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of people to Davie Park again this year.
“It’s great that the football tournament takes place at the same time as our event as it brings even more people to our lovely park.”
She added: “This is the fifth year of the event and the weather has always been kind to us so we’re hoping for another fine afternoon.
“Come along and relax and enjoy the fun!”
Stalls are available at the event for a donation to the Parknership, which is currently raising money to carry out work at the side of the pond in the park.
