Blairgowri­e There was a reasonable turnout of members for the rinks night on Friday.

Scores were: P Mucha 11, A Paterson 10; S Greenaway 8, H Douglas 7.

Highest up rink: G Hepburn, A Dirkzwager and skip P Mucha - nine ends.

The tie was decided by the number of ends as the shots total at the end of the encounter was the same. The weekly club lottery now stands at £700. There were no winners last week. The numbers were 2, 8, 14 and 18. Rattray The club played Newhills BC in Aberdeen on Saturday. The game was followed by a meal and social event, featuring entertainm­ent.

Scores, Rattray skips first, were: G Whyte 21, H Mckay 13; J Watson 22, S Rae 18; A. McIntosh 28, M Stephen 13; K Nicholson 21, W Ewing 15; I Brogan 18, W Merchant 18; G Campbell 10, A Other 27. Rattray won 120-104 overall. The Ladies Pairs competitio­n was played as a round robin event on Sunday.

Although lucky to miss the rain, strong gales made playing conditions difficult.

A good turnout of players from surroundin­g clubs ensured healthy competitio­n once again.

The club thanked sponsor Alistair Russell of the Balmoral Garage for his continued support.

Semi-finalists were S Myles and H Winter from Stanley and Scone Recreation BC – who beat Rattray’s S Brogan and C Kinnear.

They were joined by local rink P Stewart and E Turpie, who beat V Walker and L Andrew from Blairgowri­e.

The final was won by P Stewart and E Turpie, who received the club’s congratula­tions.

Best wishes were expressed to all those competing in the club’s Champion of Champions competitio­ns over the coming weeks.

A spokespers­on added:“Well done to all the players from the gents’and ladies’sections who represente­d the club at Northfield in Ayr at the National Championsh­ips.

“Unfortunat­ely, no national titles were won by the club but it was a great experience for everyone overall.”
