Prize night for talented swimmers

Blairgowri­e’s Dolphin swimming club held its annual presentati­on night at the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus recently.

The presentati­on - which was enjoyed by all - aims to celebrate the success of youngsters in the club and a number of talented young swimmers received medals on the night.

Trophies for swimmers of the year for 2016 were awarded as follows: overall - Scott Forsyth and Roisine Penny; 14-years-old and over - Molly Appleton and Fraser Stewart; 12/13-years - Flora Dobb and Lewis McNally; 10/11-years - Caitlin Downey and Rhys Woodside; 10-years-old and under - Ellie Crighton, Olivia Kemp and Fergus MacQueen.

Captains of the club Chloe Gruneburg-Mackenzie and Ross Campbell passed on the baton to new captains for the coming year, Scott Forsyth and Fern Smith. Fiona Stewart and Alex Gribben are the new vice-captains.

Those behind the club would like thank all the coaches and poolside helpers who give up their time to support the swimmers every week.

The Dolphins train at Blairgowri­e Recreation Centre on Beeches Road on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm, Wednesdays from 4pm to 5pm, Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm, Fridays from 8pm to 9.30pm and Sundays from 5pm to 8.30pm.
