-

Rev Peggy Ewart-Roberts welcomed Very Rev Dr Russell Barr, Moderator of the General Assembly, Church of Scotland, to the parishes of Caputh and Clunie linked with Kinclaven recently.

The Moderator and his wife, Margaret Barr, visited Glendelvine Estate at the invitation of Sir Gavin Lyle. At Glendelvine House, the Moderator, a self-confessed‘townie’, though with farming connections - Mrs Barr is a farmer’s daughter - enjoyed the opportunity to meet with various people involved in the farming industry.

After this visit, the Moderator and Mrs Barr, along with members of the congregations, had a buffet lunch at Kinclaven Church Hall.

On both occasions the Moderator gave an enlightening talk on the work entailed in his position, after which both he and Mrs Barr took questions from those present.

It was interesting to get a flavour of the variety of tasks involved in being the Moderator. Both said that they were very much enjoying their moderatorial year.

Following the lunch, the Moderator awarded long service certificates to eight elders and thanked everyone for their contributions to the work of the church.

Mrs Ewart-Roberts accepted a gift of a silver quaich from the couple to mark their visit.
