Ericht Trust changes

- Clare Damodaran

The Ericht Trust has announced a number of changes in personnel.

Myra Shearer has retired as a trustee while Len Seal and Phil Seymour have both been co-opted onto the board as new trustees.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the Ericht Trust said that it was “with considerable regret” that they announced Myra’s retirement, describing her as a tireless worker for the trust and adding that the contribution she has made to the board and the Hill School project is enormous.

Chairman of the Ericht Trust, Ian Gordon, stated that it was his privilege to say, on behalf of the other trustees and members of the Trust: “Thank you Myra, for your outstanding contribution to the work of the trust and to the town where you live. We all wish you well in the future.”

Len Seal is a member of Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council and is involved in several projects including the Strathmore Cycle Network and the Transport and Isolation Steering Group. His main interest is in energy efficiency and he is also involved in the Home Energy Assessment Team (HEAT) which aims to provide advice on energy efficiency.

Phil Seymour is new to the area but is already also involved in several projects, including the Strathmore Cycle Network and HEAT.

Phil has a keen interest in wildlife and the countryside, hillwalking, working in the community and a long-term interest in studying political history.

Following the rejection of the Hill School project by Perth and Kinross Council, the Ericht Trust has taken on the role of a development trust for the town and future community projects, particularly those arising from the charrette process organised by Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council last year.
