Have your say on park sports boost

Community consultation for Meigle project

- Clare Damodaran

A group of sports clubs and interested residents in Meigle have got together to develop a project to improve sports and recreation facilities at the Victory Park in the village.

And as part of the project, a community consultation is to be held on Saturday, March 25 at the pavilion in the park.

A spokesperson for the group said: “The current pavilion has served the village and sport in Meigle well since it was built in 1976.

“Anyone who has been in the pavilion will see it is a well used but tired facility.

“Our aim is to build a new, multipurpose facility to serve the village and surrounding community for the coming years.

“We have held initial discussions with groups including the Meigle Victory Park Committee, Meigle Cricket Club, Meigle Vics football team, the local Taekwondo Club but we are now looking for views from the wider community and importantly any other groups who would like to use new, modern facilities.

“This is the first step in a process that aims to hear what the community have to say about the current facilities on offer and to gather views and opinions of what you would like to see in the future.

“Joining us on Saturday, March 25 will be architects who have been working with us to develop indicative use of the space and a community facilitator who will be on hand to hear your views and help gather them together so we can then look at moving forward with a project.

“This is an exciting discussion to have with the local community about just what facilities we want to have for Meigle and the surrounding area and we hope the event will be well supported.”

The community consultation takes place from 10am until 2pm.
