Have your say on streets and spaces in Blair

- Clare Damodaran

An audit of streets and spaces in Blairgowrie and Rattray is to take place this week and organisers are keen for local residents to get involved and have their say.

The audit, which will be held on Thursday, February 23, is being co-ordinated by Living Streets Scotland, the Centre for Inclusive Living Perth and Kinross and Perth and Kinross Council.

A‘community street audit’ allows pedestrians of all ages and abilities to come together with the officers that plan for, manage and maintain local streets to understand what could make them easier places to walk.

Two routes in Blairgowrie and Rattray linking key local amenities have been identified and organisers are keen to hear local people’s thoughts on how the streets and spaces work.

There will be two sessions on the day, one in the morning focusing on the High Street, Reform Street and Gas Brae area, and the other in the afternoon looking at access into Blairgowrie from Rattray via Boat Brae and the bridge, as well as linking routes to Tesco on Welton Road.

A spokesperson for Living Streets Scotland said: “Streets and spaces work best when the people that walk in them everyday are able to have their say about what works and what doesn’t.

“We are especially keen to hear from local residents with a mobility or sensory impairment, older residents, and those walking with children, to better understand how streets can be made more accessible and appealing for everyone.”

Anyone who would like to be involved is asked to get in touch with Penny Morriss by emailing her at penny. morriss@livingstreets.org. uk for further information and to book a place.

If you would like to share your experience of walking in Blairgowrie and Rattray but can’t make the event, please email Penny at the address above or call her on 0131 243 2649 and she will include your comments in the audit report.
