Darroch Gate to host tea party
Homeowners and staff at McCarthy and Stone’s Darroch Gate development on Coupar Angus Road in Blairgowrie, are inviting local people to join them for a very vintage affair with tea, cakes, and the nostalgic sounds of the 1950s and 1960s.
The vintage-inspired tea party will take place at the retirement living development on Thursday, March 2 between 2pm and 3.30pm, and is to raise money for older people’s charity, Royal Voluntary Service.
In return for a small donation, there will be a finger buffet offering tea and sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones, as well as a 70s quiz and a raffle.
The celebrations are taking place to mark McCarthy and Stone’s 40th anniversary, which in 1977 saw the company open its very first retirement development.
The vintage tea party at Darroch Gate is one of the first of a series of events planned for the year with the aim of raising more than £130,000 to support the charity’s project across Scotland, and the rest of the UK.
Gail Ross, house manager at Darroch Gate, said: “We are really looking forward to hosting our vintage-inspired tea party in aid of Royal Voluntary Service.
“It is a fantastic cause and we are committed to helping the charity continue its work enriching the lives of older people and their families through their volunteers.
“Join us on March 2 for plenty of singing, toe-tapping, and celebrations as we mark the last 40 years at McCarthy and Stone, and look forward to the next.
“Anyone is welcome and it should be a fantastic event!”
The tea party is expected to be busy and spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
