The Butterybank Community Woodland project has been awarded £1000 in the February round of Tesco’s Bags of Help grant scheme.

The money will be used to fund picnic benches for the site in an effort to encourage more visitors to the community woodland, which is located on the outskirts of Coupar Angus.

Those behind the woodland, a Forward Coupar Angus project, thanked everyone who voted for them to receive the funding.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Due to the unparalleled views across the River Isla and Strathmore, the picnic benches will add further purpose to the once abandoned field that is now home to more that 800 small trees planted by community volunteers.

“We would like to thank Tesco and the public for their votes and hope that the picnic benches will be a valued feature of the site, encouraging families along to explore Butterybank and engage with the outdoors.”

Organisers also added their thanks to the volunteers who helped out at the woodland at two sessions this month.
