Safer roads cy­clethis week­end

East Perthshire res­i­dents are in­vited to take part in a cam­paign cy­cle ride on Satur­day, April 1, to high­light the need for safe cy­cling routes be­tween Alyth, Blair­gowrie and Coupar An­gus.

The ABC cam­paign cy­cle also aims to raise aware­ness of the need for safer roads for all road users.

It is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Coupar An­gus Cy­cling Hub which, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the We Walk We Cy­cle We Vote group, is keen to get can­di­dates stand­ing for of­fice in the lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions in May to see the is­sues for them­selves.

The event will also give can­di­dates a chance to talk to cy­clists to get an idea of what is needed and what is al­ready be­ing done.

The April 1 ride will start at the Cross in the cen­tre of Coupar An­gus at 10am and par­tic­i­pants will cy­cle in one big group to the Wellmeadow Cafe in the cen­tre of Blair­gowrie.There will be an op­tion to cy­cle fur­ther af­ter re­fresh­ments at the Wellmeadow Cafe, which will give peo­ple more time to talk to lo­cal can­di­dates

Or­gan­is­ers are keen to get as many peo­ple along as pos­si­ble.
