Blair ladies rack up goals

Blairgowrie ladies hockey team celebrated another win in the Midlands league with a 5-3 triumph against Madras at Perth’s North Inch Community Campus on Saturday.

Blairgowrie didn’t show their best in the first 10-15 minutes of the game, conceding two goals in the process.

But the east Perthshire side picked up the pace and got back into the game through two goals by Sarah Elliot.

Despite a lunge from the Madras goalie, Kirsty Smith then got her first goal for the team with a tap into the corner following a long pass up the pitch from Louise Nixon.

Emma Forrest also managed to sneak the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 4-2 to Blairgowrie.

Madras reduced the deficit after their third goal from a short corner.

With the score 4-3 at half-time, Fern Smith scored a fifth goal for the home side with a strike from the edge of the circle which evaded the keeper and completed the scoring.
