Stones prove weighty issue
The Ardblair Stones made their first appearance at Alyth Show this year and generated lots of interest from spectators as well as those keen to test their strength.
Early in the afternoon Dr Lance Holland-Keen from Campbeltown, near Sydney, Australia, set a very high target by lifting all nine stones in 49.68 seconds. The event went on be a family success as the first female was his daughter Leighann with five stones in 13.11 seconds, and his wife was second with five in 19.98 seconds.
Dr Holland-Keen, who spent his childhood in Leicester, graduated as a doctor from Dundee University before emigrating to Australia where he is now a GP.
He is only the third man ever to lift all nine stones and the second fastest.
