Open day success at primary school
Parents and pupils enjoyed a meet the teacher afternoon at Coupar Angus Primary School recently.
The event also included an opportunity for those who were able to attend to take part in workshops led by teachers at the school on literacy and numeracy.
Head teacher at the school, Nikki Drew, was pleased with the popularity of the event.
She told the Blairie:“It was a great afternoon and it was really great to see such a good turnout and such wonderful support from the parents of our pupils.
“This is the second time that we have held this sort of event and we decided to do it again after we received such positive feedback for the first event.
“As well as seeing their children’s classrooms and the work they have been doing, parents and carers were also able to take part in extended literacy and numeracy workshops.
“We also enjoyed a buffet tea provided by Tayside Contracts in the hall afterwards, and I think the parents appreciated the opportunity to talk to the teachers in a more relaxed setting.”
Shona Turnbull, head of the school’s parent council group, Supporting Our Children (SOC), agreed, commenting:“It was great to see so many of the parents and carers and children interacting.
“The workshops were valuable too as I think it is important for parents to understand what and how their children are learning so that they can consolidate that at home.”
