Coupar go into derby afterloss

It was a frustrating afternoon for Coupar Angus on Saturday, who were defeated 1-0 away at Lochore Welfare.

The Foxhall Park men, who were looking to make it two wins on the bounce, were undone by a 30-yard strike from David Byrne.

Coupar boss Logan McConachie said: “There was very little between the two teams on Saturday.

“The pitch was in pretty poor condition with the weather, so it was more of a battle than a match.

“The game was decided by a long-range effort, which is frustrating because we limited their chances and defended well.”

This Saturday, Blairgowrie travel to Foxhall Park to play Coupar Angus in a North League derby match. It’s a 2.30pm kickoff.

Logan added: “I think there is a great chance for us to take points from Blairgowrie on Saturday.

“This league is tight and it’s competitive, so hopefully we can get a positive result for the first derby of the season.”
