Legion organises Armistice services

-

The Blairgowrie branch of Legion Scotland is organising the parade and Service of Remembrance at the Wellmeadow on Sunday, November 12.

It is hoped there will be a good turnout of people paying their respects at the commemorations.

The parade forms in Upper Brown Street and marches off at 12.20pm down the High Street and Allan Street to the Wellmeadow, which it enters at the gate on Gas Brae.

The service and laying of wreaths starts at 12.30pm and, around 1pm, the parade will return to Brown Street by the reverse route.

On Saturday, November 11, there will also be a short ceremony at the war memorial and the twominute silence will be observed at 11am.

Organisers hope that businesses and individuals, wherever they are, will stop for two minutes at this time.

In the period leading up to Remembrance Sunday the Legion will be putting collection cans and poppies in many local business premises.

Everything that is collected is forwarded to PoppyScotland in Edinburgh and added to the national total.
