Bunter’s zombie day to raise cash for transplants

-

Staff at Bunter’s Cafe in the Wellmeadow in Blairgowrie will be dressing up for Hallowe’en this year to raise money for the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association.

This year the team have embraced a Day of the Dead theme for their costumes and will be dressed up on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, as well as Hallowe’en itself on Tuesday and Mexico’s Day of the Dead on Wednesday next week.

And as well as the dressing up, the team will also be selling Hallowe’en and Day of the Dead themed goodies in the take away, including pumpkin soup, scary muffins , skull lollies and lots more.

There will be competitions such as guess the name of the spider, and they will be collecting donations as well as sponsorship over the four days.

Manager Tina Gliddon explained that they decided to raise money for the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association (FHLTA) this year after the husband of the owner of Bunters, Janette Allan, underwent a double lung transplant around five months ago.

The FHLTA is a voluntary organisation consisting of heart and or lung transplant recipients, families and their supporters.

It aims to provide advice and support to heart and lung transplant patients as well as raise awareness of transplants.
