Blairgowrie ladies hockey team played Brechin in Arbroath on Saturday, November 4.

The Blair side found it tough to penetrate the Brechin defence, despite numerous penalty corners and a prolonged period of pressure.

With no score at half-time the team came back fighting in the second half and a goal from Louise Nixon lifted spirits.

But gaps began to form and Blairgowrie allowed Brechin to push into the circle to score the final goal of the cup match.

The draw marks the first time this season that the Blairgowrie ladies have not won after five wins in a row.

Their next match is against Madras on Saturday at Dawson Park, Dundee. ● Blairgowrie Hockey Club will start ‘back to hockey’ sessions at the Recreation Centre in Blairgowrie from 7pm to 8pm on Thursday, November 9.

They are aimed at women over 16 who have never played hockey before or have not played since they were at school.

There will be a short refresher on skills, shooting practice and games play.
