New chair for book fest

The BOOK­MARK fes­ti­val is to have a new chair.

Blair­gowrie-based Gail Wylie, who is cur­rently chair of the Muriel Spark So­ci­ety, has taken on the role af­ter for­mer chair of the Blair­gowrie, Rat­tray and the Glens fes­ti­val, Janey Lam­bie, stood down from the po­si­tion last month.

The pop­u­lar an­nual fes­ti­val is work­ing to­wards be­com­ing an in­cor­po­rated char­ity next year and Janey said that af­ter what she de­scribed as a “whirl­wind” year at the helm, the time was right for her to stand down.

Speak­ing at the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s Christ­mas party re­cently, Janey ex­plained: “I am keen that the com­mit­tee has as long as pos­si­ble to re­group af­ter what was a very suc­cess­ful fes­ti­val in Oc­to­ber and, un­der new lead­er­ship, to be­gin t o p l a n t h e 2 0 1 8 p ro g ra mme, and to set up the new com­mit­tee struc­tures ne­c­es­sary for April 1 next year when BOOK­MARK plans to be­come an in­cor­po­rated Scot­tish char­ity.
