Santa’s sleigh tour “one of best yet”
Santa’s tour of the streets of Blairgowrie and Rattray in his sleigh raised nearly £2000 for the Blairgowrie and Rattray Illuminations Committee this year.
Despite having to hastily rearrange some of his tour due to icy weather and treacherous ground conditions, Santa and his band of merry helpers still managed to visit many streets in Blairgowrie and Rattray.
And organisers were delighted to have raised £1929 which will go towards the town’s festive lights displays.
Keith Reid, chair of the committee, said:“This is an amazing amount of money to have raised and we are extremely grateful to the residents of Blairgowrie and Rattray for their generosity.
“On behalf of the committee I would like to thank everyone for joining in with the spirit of Christmas – the volunteers, everyone who donated, and of course Santa himself.
“Everyone played a part and the money that has been raised will go towards making Blairgowrie and Rattray shine even brighter next year.
“There were many special moments on Santa’s tour, including one where a driver who was working hard delivering parcels stopped to Skype his two-year-old son who was dressed as an elf so he could see Santa.
“Santa had a chat with the wee chap and made his father’s day.
“I think this year’s sleigh tour was certainly one of the best yet.”
