Belles and Buns cycling event is back for 2018!
The date for the fifth annual Belles and Buns cycling event has been announced... writes ClareDamodaran.
The 2018 event – Scotland’s only all-female road cycling event – will take place on Saturday, May 19.
Organised by the Coupar Angus Cycling Hub and Highland Perthshire Cycling (HPC) the popular event will stick to its well-loved format of three route options and a cake and refreshment stop mid-way.
The three routes offer something for everyone – a 16-mile ride for beginners and people getting back on their bike, a 32-mile option for those wanting to see more stunning scenery, and 64-miles for those wanting a more challenging distance.
All routes leave from Dunkeld with the cake and refreshments in Larghan Park, Coupar Angus.
All roads are well-signed and marshalled with medical and mechanic back-up.
Early bird entries are open now for a limited time for what organisers promise will be a great, sociable road ride with lots of like-minded women.
Coupar Angus cycling development officer Grant Murdoch is already looking forward to the event.
He said: “We are so happy to be working in partnership with Highland Perthshire Cycling to help develop cycling even more in Perthshire.
“Together we have seen this event grow in popularity with over 170 entries in 2017.
“This goes to show how many ladies are getting on bikes, and enjoying it.
“We have had lots of feedback that this event has been people’s inspiration to get active and get cycling, which, along with our Friday ‘Cycle for Cake’ group in Coupar Angus, just goes to show what a positive impact it is having on so many peoples lives.
“The event brings communities together and is down to the hard work of a team of amazing volunteers - bakers, marshals and everyone else behind the scenes.
“It is also a celebration of cycling and community spirit and we would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for one of Scotland’s most unique and amazing road cycling events.”
