On your marks for Fun Run and Walk

East Perthshire res­i­dents are re­minded that Blair­gowrie’s pop­u­lar NewYear’s Day Fun Run andWalk is back for the 34th year in a row this Mon­day.

Those be­hind the vol­un­teer-run event are keen to en­cour­age as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble to dust off their train­ers and take part in what is a great so­cial oc­ca­sion as well as a chance to work off some of the ex­cesses of the fes­tive sea­son.

The event, which is now in its 34th year and has never been can­celled, reg­u­larly at­tracts hun­dreds of run­ners and walk­ers of all ages and abil­i­ties who en­joy the 3.7 mile course.

Reg­is­tra­tion for the event is at Blair­gowrieTown Hall on Brown Street at 11am on Jan­uary 1.

The walk will set off at 12.30pm, with the run set­ting off at 1pm. En­try is £2.

The route will see all par­tic­i­pants turn right on to the High Street, head along Perth Street and Perth Road, turn left on to Golf Course Road, left on to Coupar An­gus Road be­fore turn­ing left into theWellmeadow and the fin­ish line at David­son’s the Chemist.

There will be stew­ards at the junc­tions and the fin­ish will be staffed by the team, who will take times for the first 10 men, first 10 ladies and the first boy and girl only.

Prizes and spot prizes along with soup and juice will be avail­able af­ter the event in theTown Hall.
