On your marks for Fun Run and Walk
East Perthshire residents are reminded that Blairgowrie’s popular NewYear’s Day Fun Run andWalk is back for the 34th year in a row this Monday.
Those behind the volunteer-run event are keen to encourage as many people as possible to dust off their trainers and take part in what is a great social occasion as well as a chance to work off some of the excesses of the festive season.
The event, which is now in its 34th year and has never been cancelled, regularly attracts hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages and abilities who enjoy the 3.7 mile course.
Registration for the event is at BlairgowrieTown Hall on Brown Street at 11am on January 1.
The walk will set off at 12.30pm, with the run setting off at 1pm. Entry is £2.
The route will see all participants turn right on to the High Street, head along Perth Street and Perth Road, turn left on to Golf Course Road, left on to Coupar Angus Road before turning left into theWellmeadow and the finish line at Davidson’s the Chemist.
There will be stewards at the junctions and the finish will be staffed by the team, who will take times for the first 10 men, first 10 ladies and the first boy and girl only.
Prizes and spot prizes along with soup and juice will be available after the event in theTown Hall.
