Praise for football star Lisa
An international star with links to the local football scene has been praised for inspiring the next generation.
Scotland forward Lisa Evans grew up on the fringes of east Perthshire and plays in England’s top tier with Arsenal.
The 23-year-old lists German giants Bayern Munich on her CV in terms of previous employers and was memorably part of a title-winning campaign during her time on the continent.
A regular in the women’s Champions League, Lisa – an ambassador with Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Football Club – returned to her roots during the festive period to take part in a meet and greet with girls connected to Scone Thistle.
Coach Boab McMillan said: “Lisa is the real deal, who went from working in a Perth shop to winning the Bundesliga.
“She plays for Scotland and Arsenal at present and has played in the Champions League at club level and the European Championships.
“The girls were not only thrilled to be meeting a superstar, but a local one.
“She has played in parks they play in, knows the streets they live in and has family in the area.
“Lisa has shown these girls that with a positive work ethic and lots of enthusiasm, you can make your dreams come true.”
