Abbey Church Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Andy Graham and the readings were by Robert Farquharson, from Isaiah ch 60, vv 1-6 and Matthew ch 2, vv 1-12. Rev Graham spoke about the fear of darkness that many of us experience. He also spoke of Epiphany that is associated with the visit by the Magi to worship Jesus, who was to become the light of the world. In his teachings Jesus showed us how, by having him at the centre of our lives, he can dispel the darkness. Austin Wilkie, organist, played ‘Epiphany Prelude, How Brightly Shines the Morning Star’ by Max Reger, ‘Andante in C Major’ by WJ Westbrook and ‘Short Prelude and Fugue in C’ by JS Bach. Rev Graham will be on annual leave from January 8 to January 16, inclusive. Rev Harry Mowbray will provide pastoral care if you require the services of a minister. He can be contacted on 01250 872146. Rosemary Patterson will be conducting services at Bendochy and the Abbey Church on January 14.
