Online vote on vision for future of villages

- JOHNATHON MENZIES

Community-minded residents in part of east Perthshire will soon be asked for their views on the findings of a recentlycompleted survey.

An online vote is to be held from March 1 to 8 on the results of research carried out by a steering group associated with the Meigle and Ardler Community Action Plan, which also includes what has been described by a spokesperson for the project as “stakeholder conversations”.

The action plan is being compiled by members of Meigle and Ardler Community Development Trust.

Once completed, the ambitious five-year document will map out what resources and services will be required in order to bring a number of goals identified by the community to fruition.

The voting on these objectives is being carried out online as a result of a more traditional drop-in style event not being possible due to Covid-19 outbreak restrictions.

Community development worker Caroline Ness explained: “Voting will be held on Mentimeter and you will be able to access this using the QR code on the various posters and banners displayed across the area.

“We will also publish a voting code you can use at www.menti.com from Monday, February 22. The codes are only valid for 14 days.

“The steering group will be hosting live Zoom sessions to discuss all the themes used in the voting process and they hope this will allow residents to fully understand each project priority before voting.

“There will also be some recorded videos that can be watched in the people’s own time, too.”

Further details of how to vote and sign-up for the link to the Zoom sessions are to be published on the Meigle and Ardler Community Development Trust Facebook page, as well as a new community website, this week.

Caroline continued: “Please look out for the posters and banners around both the villages, and visit our Facebook page. Details on how to access the new website will be published on there soon.”
