BLAIR ARE ON CLOUD NINE
Goal spree by strong squad
Blairgowrie proved too strong for Dundee amateur side Kirkton, winning 9-1 in the sunshine on Saturday.
The Davie Park surface looked immaculate in the warm conditions but, once again, it took a little while for Blair to get going.
But after opening the scoring through Ryan Beedie on 26 minutes, goals arrived at regular intervals.
Gary Axworthy made it two from a free-kick on the half-hour mark, before Cammy McManus added a third following a fine run and low drive.
Shortly before the interval, Liam McPherson followed up to score from close range after a shot from Matty Adam had been parried.
Blairgowrie had produced some excellent pass-and-move football in the first half but the second was less fluent.
However, goals still flowed, with McManus scoring straight from the restart with an angled drive.
Darren Neave blasted home from the penalty spot after an hour and, 10 minutes later, Adam scored with a spectacular drive into the roof of the net following a good build-up.
Neave nodded in his second goal from a Kai Whytock cross before some slack play allowed Kirkton a well-taken consolation goal near the end.
Blairgowrie had the final say, with Whytock converting a penalty in some style.
Despite a lengthy injury list so early in the pre-season build-up, this was another encouraging performance by Blairgowrie.
The club is delighted to be able to welcome back supporters to Davie Park on Thursday this week for a pre-season friendly against Monifieth U19s.
The 7pm kick-off will be first time fans will have been able to attend a Blairgowrie Juniors home match since February 1, 2019.
