Consultation on plans for plant site revamp set to be held this week
Residents living near the 2 Sisters poultry processing plant in Coupar Angus are being urged to get involved in a consultation exercise into the future of the plant this week.
Amber Real Estate Investment (Amber REI) wants to upgrade the factory before eventually replacing it completely with a“low carbon, state-of-the-art facility on neighbouring land to the current plant”.
It was revealed earlier this month that two proposal of application notices (PAN) have been submitted to Perth and Kinross Council in relation to the potential project.
And a consultation exercise will now take place on Wednesday.
The Scottish Government has suspended in-person public consultation events due to Covid-19.
As a result of this, full details about the proposals will be made available to the public at 9am on June 30 at www.ambercouparangus. com, with the online consultation taking place between 3pm and 7pm.
Consultants representing Amber REI will be available during those hours to answer questions and receive feedback through a two-way chat system.
Feedback can also be submitted via the website, and information will be made available in paper format if requested.
Anyone unable to access the exhibition boards on the day of the event can contact Orbit Communications at hello@ambercouparangus. com, on 0131 202 3259 or at 4 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 1JE to receive the plans in an alternative manner.
A spokesperson for Amber REI said:“We’re pleased to be giving the public the chance to have a say on our future poultry processing facilities in Coupar Angus.
“This new venture will allow us to develop an upgraded facility and may unlock the potential for alternative uses for the existing site.
“This is a huge economic opportunity, particularly as it comes at such a sensitive time nationally.
“We are consulting extensively to ensure that the public have an opportunity to input their views and shape our proposals.”
The firm’s representative concluded:“We encourage the community to attend and ask any questions they may have.”
